The Quarterly Edition
I just realized I only write about four of these a year. Maybe I should do more? Maybe less IS more, and I should just standardize and do them seasonally. Anyways…
What’s new in 2016? I’ll tell ya.
APRIL 8TH – 2ND ANNUAL SONGWRITER’S WEEKEND in beautiful GRAVELBOURG SK! Megan Nash and Scott Richmond are both recording new records this year, so I’d be willing to bet that you can expect a whole batch of brand new material from them. I’ve got a couple fledgling tunes as well, and some “rare material” from the “vault” (i.e. I got bored of the usual suspects and went digging for something with less plays than that thing your mom downloaded onto your iTunes…) We are very honored that our featured artist this year will be the mesmerizing Belle Plaine. She is one of this year’s CBC Saskatchewan Future 40 for many many reasons, and I encourage you to come find out why.
JUNE 11TH – I will be joining some old friends from the coast at VANGELI’S in SASKATOON SK. The sultry Shiloh Lindsey will be playing with a couple of rowdies in her rhythm section. It is a guaranteed party time. And after nine months of pregnancy, goodness knows I am ready to party!
JULY 9TH – Another fabulous tradition continues this year with THE 2ND ANNUAL BERRY JAM FESTIVAL at Bouvier’s Berry Basket in KINCAID SK. Lots more homegrown Saskatchewan talent to enjoy, and the Bouncy Castle will be joined by a super awesome Bouncy Obstacle Course! Plus more market vendors, an earlier jam, and many a berry to be picked.
I am delighted to have been invited to lend some vocals to Megan Nash’s forthcoming record, to be recorded this spring at the Palmer Church. My brother Stepham will be engineering, and Megan’s sister Jenna will be bringing out her powerhouse voice, so it truly is a family affair.
Stephan and I are also working on a theme for a new radio mini-series by scriptwriter Andy H. Garland. I can’t tell you much, but I will say that it is spoooooooookyyyyyyyyyy.
I have a few other cats in the bag, but I’m going to make sure they’re actually cats, and not Donald Trumps, before I let them out of the bag. Stay tuned for The Quarterly, Summer Edition.
